LightWaveRF do something similar (granted, a few missing features) to Hive/Nest whilst being a lot cheaper; they also do loads of other wireless gear like remote radiator values, light switches and sockets etc.

Is lightwave cheaper? For the wifi link its £100, then 75 for the thermostat so its fairly similar money vs the £150 hive

If you have a british gas contract and your heating controls go faulty, time clock or room thermostat.
You can then get hive for £99 installed same day.
