Get something with DEET. Not too high a percentage though.

I use stuff by 'Jungle Formula' as a decent Mosquito/Insect repellant.
I've not long been back from working in the Amazon Rainforest, and it worked relatively well there, and has worked fine for me in central Africa and Asia in the past too.
Though, I do a LOT of work in the Middle East (Egypt, Saudi, UAE, Bahrain, Israel, Qatar etc) and can honestly say that Mosquitos have never been an issue I've experienced in that region, both when Coastal & Inland.

If you're staying in a decent hotel, they have blokes who go round spraying smoke stuff in the evenings. Ceetainly works as I can't remember getting bitten once.
I don't think I even applied anything when we went out of the complex.
Must taste like shit.

100% Deet melts plastic btw. The forces use it in the jungle etc. You won't need 100% for a holiday to Egypt.

Go to boots and get 'Jungle Formula' - its 50% deet, used it loads of times and does the job. 100% is not needed for your trip.
Also remember to buy some Imodium if you going Egypt

Yep, that's correct.

Can't remember what it's called, but the shits is so common out there, they all stock it.

Be aware it basically acts as a cork up your arse, so in about 3 days you'll do the biggest shit imaginable.
