Seen a defender 6x6 cherry picker for sale that has a hgv tax class so must be rated over 3.5t. Without dropping an axel could it be downplated to 3.5t providing the actual vehicle dosent exceed that?

Picking cherries.
Looked and I reckon the things weigh more than 3.5t anyway so downplating is a no no I reckon.

Tax class and license class aren't necessarily the same.
Not sure it would be uprated unless it needed to be - there's no real benefit to over-stating your max. mass as far as I'm aware.

License class is just based on the plated weight, which I assume would be 7.5 tonne or less and therefore C1.

Looks like they're plated to 4.5k, so unless it weighs less than 3.5t jobs fooked
