I'm rather independent and I'm quite proud of this fact. I've been taking care of myself basically before even I was a teenager, practically almost self sufficient by the time I got into High School. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that I live alone. But once in a while I get lonesome so sometimes, I would take my buddy's dog, Shiki, as my psuedo watch dog.

Last month, I only have Shiki. Shiki is a five year old female Doberman Pincher. Beautiful dog, the stereotypical looking guard dogs you see in movies. Majestic. So when night approaches, I would lock all the doors and windows, except for one. I left it open all summer and somehow the wood shifted, so it was a hassle to close. Anyway I decided to leave it unlocked and just went straight to bed. Shiki generally takes her place under my bed.

In the middle of the night, I woke up to a dripping sound coming from the bathroom. I'm too tired to check it out, but I would just stick my hand under the bed to Shiki's reassuring lick and I fall back asleep. I reawaken to the dripping noise, I reach my hand down to the dog where I feel the reassuring lick and fall back to sleep. Once more, I awaken to the dripping sound. I reach down and felt the reassuring lick.

At this point, I am now really annoyed about the dripping sound, I got up and slowly walked towards the bathroom. The dripping sound getting louder as I approach. I reached the bathroom and turn on the light. I am greeted by a horrific sight; hanging from my shower nozzle is Shiki with her throat slit open and her blood dripping into the bathtub.

On the bathroom mirror catching my eye, I turn around. Written in Shiki's blood are the words "HUMANS CAN LICK TOO".
