plenty have been to the ring
plenty dont bother.
i took the advice of many and experienced some UK tracks first.
it showed me something critical
1) as much as i dont want to prang my car...it is the same for everyone else
2) (on the basis (1) is observed and everyone behaves) if it goes wrong it is my fault
as such since i havent bothered with track day insurance. i have seen some cars hit a wall, others smash into one but yet to see any car on car action which to me proves the two points above, driver error (driving beyond the limits of talent or the car) are the biggest risk,
that said for the 'Ring i did get insurance if only because of the distance from home it was and potential cost of things going wrong.
i went with morris insurance. they covered the cost of the car (market value) but that was it.
hit a £40k Porsche a i was on my own...cause £2k of track/barrier damage i was on my own.

You'll find it hard to get insurance for TF. Track days you'll get cover for around 250-300 for 2days.

Didn't use track insurance, Adrian flux covered me FOC for international driving though.
AA for breakdown cover, cost £110 in the end I think

I did yup. But the only cost crashing in the uk is the car.
The ring silly amounts! My mate crashed on the road and was fined 2-3k
