Whilst fitting - how the fuck do you weld the top? When we made the first cage we really struggled...

Dont want to spend £600 and it still be wrong...

Thinking of buying this

Cut the floor drop it through, (best option)
Or if it's mounted on boxes you can lower it enough to get too the top.

Just on the imp it looks like it sits on box section rails (part of the car) which you couldnt really just cut out

When the guy fitted the Full Weld Cage into my old Corsa, he took the roof skin off and then welded a replacement in once the Cage was done.

Dont see too many imp roof skins about so thats no an option

Can you not cut the roof out and re-weld it back in? That is the correct way to do it, but failing that, the top welds can be done with an arc welder and the rod bent to shape as long as there's 10mm of clearance to the roof skin


I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

Decent tig welder could probably do it with a stubby kit if you can drop it even a little bit,
