I just got an email from my broadband provider telling me that they have detected a computer with the citadel virus on my network. Followed a short time later by an email form Microsoft saying that someone has tried unsuccessfully to login to my live account.

The confuding part is that I have a chromebook and and Android phones only. No windows or mac os with my details on.

However I did allow my next doors nephew access to my network to use when he stays over and it looks as if he has connected a windows PC/Laptop this would be the probable source of the infection. However how has the virus got my details?

Can the citadel virus monitor network traffic and keystrokes of other computers on the network??

sounds more like a case of scam emails than an actual virus.

Its unlikely he's "infected your network" unless you've been sharing files on the network.
Scan your machines and ignore if nothings detected imo....

Deffo not scam emails as I logged on to Microsoft live (not via email link) and got the same message about someone trying to access my account and had to reset everything
