Are you trying to restore an old ABS bumper? If so just go over it with a hot-air gun and it will look good as new again.

Used Wurth stuff back in my bodyshop days. Pretty good effect could be had.

It had different grades of texture and different levels of colour from dark grey through to deep black.

Few year ago mind don't know if they still make it tbh.

In the long run does this make the bumpers even more faded?

Other alterative could be to go down the gloss back or a nice dark anthracite colour but not sure what to do as i don't want it to look tacky.

Prep the plastic with red scotch pad you can get from halfords, de-grease it to remove all dust and oils form your hand, brief dusting of plastic primer to make sure the new paint sticks and the simoniz matt black paint, few coats of light dusting, add more if required

results can be found on my old project below

sprayed the old tired arches on this page, scroll down

The heat gun approach makes the ABS look like new, however yes over time again it will fade.

The problem you have with painting ABS is its a nightmare to get paint to stick to it properly when its fresh out of the factory let alone after years and years of having silicone applied.
