So i sold my car back in november and haven't bought one since (don't really need one atm)

I was halfway through a policy which started in about June when i cancelled it.

I know after a year of no insurance your no claims disappears. So I'm wondering if i am going to have to insure a car before it gets round to June again? I am guessing if i do its going to be for a whole year so i can add to my no claims or its not going to count?

Bit confused with that really. I have 5 years NCB and don't want the hassle of loosing it!

I had to insure a car after 11 months without one because of this silly rule. Had a puma on sorn and using a car insured in missus name.

It is.

Why should you lose accrued NCB that you've paid a hefty premium to gain over the years?

You don't lose your license if you haven't driven in a certain amount of time. What if you spent a year abroad then decided to come back? You'd have to start all over again and pay through the roof.

The 17 years before I passed my test I never had any insurance claims so chould have started with 17 when I got my first car

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

Only if you'd purchased your first policy, minutes after exiting the womb Ste.

It's 2 years. I managed to lose 5 years nc by waiting longer than that.

To be fair the quotes when I did eventually get insurance were reasonable. But the car wasn't anything special...
