Chaps,

If purchasing a SORNed car that you intend to Tax, how is this possible?

I know you can do it online, but it states V5 must have correct details (new owner, so they will be incorrect). Or post office.

I am due to view the car in the evening, and it will not be possible to visit a Post Office. I need to drive it home, which without Tax is obviously illegal.

WTH do you do?

If it has an MOT there is no problem, you can tax online as soon as you pick it up (details are irrelevant now as there is no disc and you're paying via Card/DD).

If there is no MOT then you're going to need to drive it straight to an MOT station or have it transported.

Don't forget you will also need insurance to tax it, not sure how quick that would all be available to the DVLA systems if you insured it then tried to tax it five minutes later.

How far is it?

Do it online via the DVLA but it must have an MOT first.
