I always thought if it had a top speed lower than 30mph it was ok. Not sure where I got that from though!

Surely with an engine it would need proper registration and insurance etc to be legal on the road? Same as a mini moto etc.

Saw a man yesterday with something very similar driving around on the pavements and in the bike lanes.
Way too big to be on a normal sized pavement

If you mean my lack of bike skill, I am however a novice. But I have a go.

Got to start somewhere. Save your self $2000 and pedal a bit harder and don't use the brakes as much. Boom novice mode complete.

Can't remember exactly but it is related to the output power so if it is below the threshold, it won't need to be registered or taxed and will have a classification of something like motorised bicycle. Same as the Sinclair C5 and kids motorised toys.

But they were electric, does the fact this have an engine make a difference?

Go-Ped's used to be a thing when I was a kid. A Scooter frame, skateboard base board (sometimes with a seat) and a party little engine from what must have only been 10-15cc. We used to have the police chase us through the alleys and when one of the lads eventually got caught, he was told they were illegal on the road as there were no docs for it or basic things like lights.
