As some of you may know from previous posts... I'm doing an Engineering degree and for my final project I am investigating the sustainable design of a flat-floor for a generic car.
The survey is small, and non-technical - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/HRB3F95
This isn't really referring to a motorsport context where downforce would be sought. This is aimed at everyday use where drag reductions are sought and increasing in fuel efficiency... so use your daily/work car/van as a basis for the responses please

Done and dusted, but I doubt anything of that ilk could be applied to any of my cars as they are probably too old, especially the one that does all the mileage.
Interesting premise though Adam.

Done. But being honest I would pay for a device that could save me 3mpg. Wouldn't be noticeable enough for myself.

Well the survey, for example it asks about how many miles i drive and the type of car i drive most.... Which is my diesel astra estate company car.... It then asks whats important to me when buying a car... Performance
Just a bit unbalanced

Done, but could have done with a 'couldn't give a fuck' option for the last question regarding 3mpg

3mpg is actually a decent saving when you think about it.
Or in reverse.... you'd soon notice/complain if something dropped MPG by 3mpg.
I do about 20-25k miles a year in the X5. Around 25mpg average (21 towing, low 30ish best case motorway)
to change that to 28mpg would mean a saving of
based on diesel price of £1.25/l (I dont even know current price, but just use that as an example)
25000miles at 25mpg = 1000gallons or 4546 litres
25000miles at 28mpg = 893gallons or 4060 litres
That works out at 486 litres saved.... factor in the cost saving AND the reduction in emissions.
486 x £1.25 = £607
To me that shows 3mpg isnt trivial at all. Obviously the gains are more obvious for high use/mileage cars.
The project is all about sustainability though, and I have approached it in a slightly different fashion to the normal I think

Surely if your motor did 18 to the gallon, you'd be happier if it could be made to do 21 Gaz?
I know I would.

Install Solar Panels if you want to carbon offset, that’s what I did lol, I generate 7680KWH per annum so save around 3,993 kg of Co2
