Skoda have some rather excellent 0% finance deals at the moment, and if I can get a decent trade in price for the Fiesta against a new Skoda, I'm very tempted.

I now only do maximum 10k miles per year, and so don't need a diesel. The 1.2 TSI 110ps looks of particular interest as it has a good mix of MPG vs. performance, and is 6-speed. With the majority of my mileage to work being motorway, this will be ideal, and offers a bit of extra performance over the 90ps model.

Anyone have experiences of the 1.2 turbo engines? I've read MPG average is 40-45, which is low imho, compared to the 55mpg combined book figure I'd need 50's to make it worthwhile.

I drove a 1.0 100ps Ford ECOboost engine last week and was very very impressed, so I'm hoping that the 1.2 VAG engine will be just as good.

And does the 1.2 provide that?

I was looking at the new polo today with the same engine and was surprised to see the 1.2 with 110bhp which sounds impressive when you look back and compare the Corsa B 1.6 sport that has 104bhp.

Tax was something like £20 a year also.

Apparently that 140ps one is rather impressive.

Don't expect book figure fuel economy though.

if your going to be on the motorway a lot and want a small petrol engine, I would suggest looking at the 1.4 TFSI with cylinder on demand, takes it down to a 2cyl when cruising.

Do all the 1.4's have that tech? Only model listed in the Rapid Spaceback is 1.4 TSI 125ps with DSG.

Nice. I would say even if the 1.4 isn't available with cylinder on demand in the Rapid, then I think the normal 1.4 would be a better idea than the 1.2. they are a touch gutless and tend to need to be pushed a little more to get to any decent speed imho
