What do we think?

Test drove one at the weekend and liked it a lot, pulls harder than my Clio 182 does and handles the road really well. Seems a lot bigger... only thing that's putting me off is that it has mega miles on the clock.

Anything I should specifically be looking out for? Thinking of phoning up tomorrow and making a cheeky offer; it's already pretty cheap!

I have an edition 30 dsg and love it !

How many miles is mega miles ?

Check front wings/sills and boot badge for rust, if it's under 10 years old and not been previously repaired vw will sort it under warrenty.

Is it a dsg or manual ?

As said what's mega miles?

Also as said rust. Headlights haze up like Clio ones so easy fix, door catches can seize. Just changed my sisters yesterday, n/s/r. £117.

I'd make sure it's had a cambelt.

Then usual stuff, springs can break, bottom arm bushes, drop links etc. normal replaceable stuff.

Check the door handles work as mine needed a new latch.

Also check air con, apart from all that they're great

It's the wrong side of 150k! But my Clio has 125k on it... mileage doesn't usually bother me that much.

Bonnet chips aren't too bad and the wheels have been freshly refurbed and it has new tyres and evidence of cambelt change... it had a private plate on it for years so I think it's been well looked after.

Oh it's 3 door, red, manual and has the heated leather seats... almost my perfect spec apart from I prefer the dark blue

Reds nicer than the blue imo. Get some Edition 30 bits on it and your onto a winner.

Rust for sure.

I have a 2008 GT Sport. Lovely car, I've been really pleased with it.

Had a seized brake caliper and a coil spring replaced by the dealer under warranty. Other than that it's been fine.

Accident damage and caned engines are the only other thing to look out for. They were a popular company car choice from new.

Well phoned up and made my cheeky offer... wouldn't drop it any further! Fair enough. I've paid over the odds so many times before because I wanted something and ended up regretting it, so I'm going to let this one go (but will keep an eye on the advert for any price reductions lol)

Out of interest, do people hold the E30 in higher regards than the R32? Don't see much talk about them really.

R32 is good for the noise and that's about it. The ed30 is better for everything else.
