Not sure if these are stainless or chrome plated? However, I cant get them polished up any better than this:






Will they have some sort of lacquer on them? Have wet sanded them with 2500 grit but not sure if I should start with a lower grade first!

Help!

They used to sell those bolts on tip at halfords, i remember fitting one to my nova.

I use to do my bosses s600 amg tips with Brillo pads to get all the soot and shit off them polish with solvol autosol

1500 then 2500 grit paper. Then autoglym metal polish.

Most likely chrome plated. Can get them re-chromed easily enough.

You'll never get those perfect though.

I used to use auto sol on my boost pipes on my corsa if that is any use

I just polished my tailpipes, i wet sanded with 2000grit and then just used metal polish and they come up lovely.

I reckon the AMG ones are probably coated/chromed and you are just taking the coating off.

Paint them black imo Seen it done.

Put the bumper back on it last night and the exhausts don't stick out anywhere near as much as I remember, so they'll be fine!

At work we use fine steel wool and polish on AMG ones if Autosol doesn't being them up.
