My car has covered 58k miles and has been regularly serviced and until recently never noticed too much of a ticking noise. However I started to notice a ticking noise when the weather warmed up and I was driving with the windows down more.
Does this sound like the typical timing chain noise?

It doesn't seem to be louder on the cam chain side tho...

The very fine rattle is the cam chain/top end..The chuffing noise sounds like a leaking EGR/duff manifold.

sounds like chain, what oil you running it on?
when you do the chain dont go for cheap kit as they dont last and clean oil pump, oil pressure valves in housing, sump, and pick up pipe.

10w40 semi is better for these engines. change at least every 5k miles.

When I searched for which one to use in the past people were saying 5w30 Fully synthetic,
http://www.vauxhallownersnetwork.co.uk/index.php?threads/corsa-c-sxi-1-2-oil.185006/
If there was a problem with the EGR/Manifold wouldn't I experience some running issues? Its drives fine, ticks over fine and the fuel economy is the same as it was at 36k miles when I got it(400 miles to a tank).

I put fully synthetic in my 1.0 when it was due an oil change, noticed that the chain rattle was way louder, put some semi back in it and it quietend down again.

Nothing wrong with that... Preserves chain, oil is cheap as chips.
Hey- it's cool to try an insult a small
Engine Corsa on a Corsa page though - isn't it.

Not insulting it at all but I do find the idea that a 1.2 Corsa is best with 5K oil changes pretty funny

Why? Keeping any engine as fresh and as clean as possible isn't a bad thing.
Just because it's a 1.2 is pretty irrelevant. I can only assume the engine size keeps being mentioned, it to get lolz comments

You find it funny because it is funny. It is an absolutely unnecessary service interval. A F430, for example, is serviced at 12.5k intervals so I'm sure a Corsa doesn't need 5k oil changes

Nothing to do with it being a 1.2, more the fact that is a mast produced cheap car that would probably run for thousands of miles over the standard service schedule.
I say the same thing on the TT site when people want to spend £££ on gold plated super Castrol £100 oil for there 10 year old 1.8T.
Guess if the owner wants to do it is fine though

The noise in the video sounds exactly like how my old shitty corsa b sounded when I had it 7 years ago.
How long do Vauxhall recommend before the chain etc is due a change? 100k? Or how many years? Or would corsasport recommend every 25k because it helps keep the engine preserved.
The money you would save from not doing unessessary things to an old car that's probably not had its oil changed every 5k prior to you buying it you could easily save up and have enough to buy another corsa c in a few months time.
Live to learn with the noise because the chain engines don't get much quieter.
