Is it not chipped ?

About 110 - 115 bhp depending on the cam profile.

Not sure how well these engines respond to tuning so thats just a guess.

See cams and a ported/polished head... how easy are these to detect?

i.e. for insurances purposes

I think 110-115 is a big over estimation.

I would go for upto 100.

It depends on who/what has been done to the head, and the cam profile as said.

Mr insurance is unlikely to rip your engine apart so I would really doubt it. Dunno if I would take the risk though.

i would say 100 when it has been chipped, your not gonna get 18 bhp from that lot to be honest without engine blueprinting.

Still fair enough tho, from a tidy wee SRi engine

It is quick for what it is anyway.

but if your in a serious accident which is your fault your car will be inpounded by ministry of transport and the check every thing, brakes, engine, ecu, exhaust, suspension, just generally to see if it was a malfunction on the cars behalf why the accident happened, but they'll take notes of any parts that have been added from the standard spec and
check it with the insurance to make sure your insurance isn't void

i know this cos it happened to my mates 106 rallye luckly he'd declared all his parts and the car was a write off

in my opinion it isn't worth the risk

also the police around here have started stopping people and asking to see under the bonnet to make sure theres no obvious engine mods that haven't been declared like engine conversions, throttle bodies etc
