the previous owner of my car left me a nice arched scratch
on the rear window from using a dud blade on the rear wiper

I have the same problem, tried all types of abrasive glass polish and it don't do a thing, my car is in the bodyshop at the mo so may ask them what they suggest.

Use rubbing compound like G3.
Best apply it with an electric polisher to save time and effort, it takes a fair bit of rubbing.
