theres a constant tapping sound under the rocker cover, is it the tappets and is it bad?!

my Gsi makes a tapping noise the first few minutes after i start up! but only during cold weather, i think its somthing to do with the oil type or grade... not sure tho

ive got a 1.4sri 8v mpi i get a tiking sound when ever accelerating i always thort it was the injectors as they are magnetic or sumthing like that?

could be hydrolic lifters are worn

or

oil level is low, and theirs not enough oil getting to the hydrolic lifters so they tap

thats why i said bout the oil, my old car tapped and when u rev it taps faster, turned out 2 be the oil level was low

it cud be a lot of things but my dad has a bmw and the tappets were fucked and th tapping got louder as he revved it so it probly is the tappets.

Is this not all the symptoms of pinking?... which is a really common problem with corsa's?.

it shudnt pink at low revs though surely, im not expert but i thought that was more a 3k+ revs thing

mine was same, got worse and worse, ended up with new cam and lifters and a few other bits, not good concidering i had it all apart 2 weeks prior replacing my bent valves

its where the iginition timings is incorrect, and the spark, sparks to early (i'm probably wrong)

they have knock sensors so shouldn't pink......

Injectors 'tick' but no loudly.

Its probably worn or dirty lifters. If you take them out they can be cleaned with some parafin. Or they are about £6 each new i think.

They should get quieter when the engine is warm and when the car is reved as the oil gets thinner and the pressure increases when reved.

i think pinking is wen the engine is burning lean, causing the engine 2 run hotter and will therefore lead 2 ceasing the engine if not looked at

even when warm i get the tappets sound its been doin it since i had it back in august never really thought much of it.

its when its igniting incorrectly

This can damage your pistons
