I dont have no stereo at the moment as it's all been knicked (again) and I cant stand listenin to music anyway (that's a lie but i tell myself that so i dont end up gettin another one knicked) anyway whats the best way to do this as I'm a tight c**t....cut the silencer out and clap a straight pipe in the middle...would that be quite a cheap way of doin it?
any other suggestions...also lol would quick fit be up for welding sumthin in place?

Yeah, get a piece of pipe the same length as what you cut out, you can get clamps that are like a short piece of pipe say 8" long with a clamp each end, get a couple of those to hold it in if you can't weld it.
If you can weld/knows someone who can, it'll cost you like nowt to get a piece of pipe and weld it in, certainly cost me nowt
Should be a lot louder, dunno quite how much, but quite a bit

if ur car has a cat as standard and u weld the straight thro in then the car will not pass an mot, ur better off clampin and gumming it so that u can just swap it and clean up the cat 4 the MOT! if ur removing centre box and cat then u can expect power gains 2! just make sure she dnt start blowing.. best way i found 2 check was 2 get a mate 2 stick their hand over the back pipes while the engine runs idle and u can here the fumes exiting thro the holes, switch off the engine and gumm it up!

THink he was jus talking bout removing centre silencer, which will be okay for MOT rather than a de-cat (which wouldnt be).
Plus Kwik Fit won't weld shit for u they dont provide...

yes i would like to keep the cat for abit until i get a by-pass/converter...I'm between jobs atm so u know.
anyway I'll go for the cut n clamp.
actully i got the kwik fit bit wrong, I meant would they sell u a pipe the right size (probably not the right size cos they dont oftern get things right the first time).

To clamp it you would need a bit of pipe that is the thickness of the metal bigger than the pipe so it can be slid over.......
I doubt noise will go up much.

I been told by an Exhaust guru (if ya need proof i got it) that if you remove the centre section you can lose power. If you keep the cat you can get rid of it, if you remove the cat - keep it!

I took mine out cos it kept scraping on speed bumps! It was either that or wait for the whole exhaust to be ripped off. Sounds louder but not too loud but mines is only a tiddler (12v - feel the power! :lol I've got Sebring straight thru c/s & b/box and it sounds sweet, it almost sounds fast! Nearly failed the mot cos the guy was struggling to get the emissions to drop quick enuf, c/box acts as an aux cat apparently, passed though.

PVD do a stainless steel straight through centre section for 60 quid. Surely an easier option?

is it a cat back system? ie clamps onto the rear of the cat and goes over rear axel to meet the backbox?
What kind of quality is it? cos i paid £60 (this was the cheapest i found it) for a mild steel one from a local exhaust place (like kwik-fit)
