i am looking to get a pinoneer sub 'PIO-TSW304C
TSW304C 12" 600W subwoofer' i have already installed a 600w amp wiring kit. I am not sure what amp to get to go along with the sub, will i need to get a higher wattage amp or lower. i am gussing a higher wattage to boost the power

Match Sub RMS rating with amp RMS rating. That sub is 300rms @4ohms.
A higher wattage amp is always better than a lower wattage rating.

Alpine T420. Two channel amp, bridge it and it should give you just over 300 wrms at 4ohms. They are approx £170 i think...

this is due to the fact that amps only ever run at 50% of what the rms figure is!!!

That would be 50% of the MAX rating not RMS...

RMS is a continuos rating, a rating where the product in question amp, sub or speakers can be run for an indefinate time without failre...
