When i first bought this computer, i had a slight whineing noise whenever i would open programs or run games etc, and eventually it would continue to annoy. However i installed a new GFX card yesterday and the whineing has started again and its unbarable. It gives me a headache in fact. I took the cover off and hoovered off all the dust from the heatsink and took the fan off and cleaned it. The noise is still there, and i can even hear it from down the road. It must be the processor since the whineing only happens when the computer is in the middle of some process. Anyone got any ideas??

well, I get a noise vibration from my machine sometimes, but its because my case isnt fixed together firmly with all the screwes
Serioudly, try hitting it and see if the vibration changes

Its not a vibration sound. Its an extremely high pitched sound. Not even the dog comes near my room when PC is on.

Try a different power supply, it's probably that.

I mean the box that all the power wires coming out of at the top of your computer... follow the power lead from the wall, and where it connects to your computer is the power supply.

Yes i know where the power supply is. You reckon it might be a bit stressed out? What if i remove something that i dont use like the DVD drive or internet adapter?

If it was getting stressed your computer would most likely crash... some psu's just make random noises, my old one used to squeal in time with the hd.
Disconnecting things you don't use might help.. at least it will help narrow down the problem.

The problem is not the CPU, it's either the fan on the CPU, or your PSU in the case.
