Just bought a Front Strut Brace from Maxpower show yesterday. Fitted it this morning and it went on OK.
The problem I've got, is the Air box (black round thing that sits ontop of the throttle body) is knocking against the strut brace when I drive the car.
Has anyone else had this problem?
The engine is an ecotec 1.2 16V DOHC. As far as I can see, you can't move the air box lower and there is no vertical adustment on the strut brace.
I will try and post pics tomorrow.
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Kris TD: I thought about washers under the strut brace but the bolts coming through strut aren't long enough.
MattyB: I have an induction kit fitted already. It isn't the airbox that houses the filter that is the problem. It is the one that sits on top of the engine and is probably the highest point in the engine bay!!

wrap sum rubber around the part that is knocking, this well stop the sound and also stop any marks it will make.

It's not the sound of the knocking I'm worried about. When you give the engine some revs it lifts in the engine bay causing the air box to knock the strut brace, it is even worse when the car is in gear.
I worry that the plastic airbox will crack causing un-filtered air into the engine or the knocking will cause damage to the throttle body under the airbox.
I am trying to get hold of the company that sold me the strut brace, and try and get another one.
The stand in the Maxpower show said Sparco, but I have a feeling that they were just another reseller and not selling from Sparco directly.

I've got the same engine/strut brace and i also have the same problem. I didn't tighten the brace as much and this slighlty raised it because it was being pulled together therefor makeing it sit lower. If you do find anything out then could you u2u me..

make sure the bolts that hold the airbox onto the throttle body r as tight as they can go, i had the same problem on my 8v after a few days it made a really bad knockin noise when u rev it as the engine moves bak and forth, neway all i did was take the strut brace off again and tighten up the screws on the air box thingy and bobs ur uncle, been ok since

Here's the pic. The strut brace hits the airbox circled in Red.
J100RSA: I asked the man on the Sparco stall and he advised me it would fit!!! Could you find out how your mate modded his, Cheers.

i got a 1.4 sport. if i got something like that like for example the one in this Post http://www.corsasport.co.uk/board/viewthread.php?tid=188706 you think i would have the same problem with the induction kit as did corsa_project?

Whatever you want.
I'm having a polished alloy one next because they don't do the one I want in steel.
Personally, I'm not fussed either way - they don't do a great deal when they're on the car so you shouldn't have to think to hard about what you get for yours.
Fitment is more important than materials, looks, cost.
