I have the 1.4 8v SRi with an induction kit, exhaust and 270 degree lift fast road cams. Can anyone reccommend a chip for it, or should i go for a custom mappable one? Im interested in the most BHP/£, not just the most BHP as i dont have loads of money to waste on it! I've seen the powerchips chip for about £180, with a claimed 8bhp increase. Cheers for any advice, Matt

Really to make the most of your mods you want a custom mappable one.
That way its mapped especially to match the tuning of your engine. Suppose a power/super chip will be better than nothing though, and will raise your rev limiter to about 7k id have though, so the Cams will be more effective

unichip, due to ur mods this would be the best option as ur engine is not standard, a superchip is not the best route

what sort of price is that? sti`ll trying to decide if i should just save up for the conversion in a couple of years when i can afford the insurance.

Think there about £400-500 including mapping and fitting. Not cheap, but an investment for futrue mods.

so would i just be able to get it remapped when i get a conversion, so long as i dont get a turbo? I still need to get my skirts fitted, so i think it might be a while till i get it anyway, unless i suddenly find a wadge of cash lying around...

i thought it was mapped for each engine? I know you need a different chip for turbo cos it has to control all the boost and stuff, but i thought you could swap em over. Feel free to correct me if im wrong, which it looks like i might be! lol

nobody that i know of, but it would be interesting. Id love to have a turbo and dump valve in a corsa eventually just to see the look on people's faces who really wouldnt expect it!
