Do I just go to the DVLA office in town with both car V5's and ask for the plate to be transferred over and hand them £80?

Think you'll have to fill a form to transfer it in too, coz they like making ya fill out stupid forms!
You can either take your tax disc's with ya and give it in then so they can then send u a new one or if you are still using the cars when ya get the new tax disc's in the post you hae to send old ones back to DVLA.

They will also need you tax disk so they can put the new reg number on it and don't forget to tell your insurance company what the new reg is.
