how would they compare against a fiesta 1.1i?( cus i have had one of these and they are'nt that bad apart from rust a tacky build)
some people sya the sri is shite too so how much is insurance on one of them anyway for a learner under a parents name?
would a 1.2i corsa keep up with a 1.3 mk5 escort?
are the 1.4i a lot better?
my old fiesta 1.1 was faster than my 1.2 8v corsa but everyone else says there not so my corsa must have been f*cked, altho they are not fast. get the 1.4 mpi if i was u.

I got the 8valve and my mates got the 16v, we were side by side the whole time to about 60, i personally feel with a good driver the 16 would beat the 8 valve for sure.

i got a 1.4 spi, with a K&N cone and cat-back zorst, its done 93k miles, and its never brocken down on me, it does 0-60mph in about 11secs, and dont quote me on that, and say i'm telling bs, because we timed it and it was also slighty going uphill, with a passenger.
about 11 as in high 13's ?? know u said not to quote but i gotta. the passenger and uphill bit makes me

LOL, I aint in no slagging match, the 1.4 8v sri is crap imo, hence why it was retired. How can you say the sport kicks in after 80mph? This is balls, the power kicks in individually through each gear high in the rev range.
please listen mate... a 82hp 8v will not be quicker than a 90hp 16v in any performance scenario's.
End of'
I have to disagree, the 8valve SRi is not crap - there not fast but there nippy, simple engine, sporty model, insurance is reasonable and theyre good to drive. The 8v SRi is tidy car IMO

I have the 1.2 8v with a few engine mods - im nto ur typical engine modder and always said Id never touch the engine - but got so pissed off with the lack of performance that I spent a few quid - 1.2 8v k&N which took shit loads of getting hold of - chipped - ttuned and new cams; veneer pulleys and skimmed/gas flowed heads
I wasnt afetr making it a racer but I was so pissed off with having no power at all..
If I could go back I wish Id brought a 1.4 16v sport as my first car cause opkay - the first year the insurance would have raped me but in the 3rd year now - I pay £602.13 fully comp insurance - but a quote on the same mods on a 1.4 sport came to only £25 more
I rewally wish Id gone for a shade more power tbh0.

oh and I have to drive a 200 mile trip to home from uni - and on the motorway - its fine if ur on a flat or downhill but occasionally on steep hills if u dont hit them at a high enough speed the trucks have to oevrtake

not that bad as I made out; but between southampton and Stoke there are some foOKing big banks on the motorway and yes u find urself below 70 at the top of most of them - even if u drop a gear etc - but Id never buy a corsa with such a shit engine again, I think its a dangerous thing and okay Vauxhall restricted its power in order to give better fuel economy etc, but they should have balanced that against safety- as I said Id much prefer the sport

2bh, The engine is good at what it does, but thats about it. Modifiying the engine internals is a waste of time and money IMO.

iv got a 1.2 8v, only learnign though
id go for the 1.2 8v, fine and cheap to run, people say the can go for a fair length of time
get one and spend minimal money on it then get a bigger engine or something
its ok for everyone to say their shit, but their all 19/20 with bigger cars

Steve brought it up...seeing as he's the last poster
Anyway back on subject.
1.2 8 valves are reliable as fook and will take a hammering all day long, which is good as that's the only way to get them to keep up with traffic these days
For a first car you can't go wrong though IMO, extremely rare to hear of any problems with them.
