Has anybody done a brake conversion their Corsa. I understand Astra Calipers and disks will fit an Corsa, but which model year etc ? I want to upgrade my front brakes by going larger rather than buying drilled and grooved with EBC's. Have 1.4 16V sport year 2000. Any help appreciated - Neil

As said the Astra GTE 16v/Astra GSI, Cav 16v, Calibra 16v and most later 2.0 cars had them, they look like this so you know what to look for - they stop really well.

it doesnt matter which brakes you upgrade too, they're all vauxhall fitment, as long as you get the caliper carriage and calpiers.

but, if you made thread clearer, you should have said "what brakes are best to upgrade to?" anyway go down your local scrappys. go to a cavalier 16v (not necessarily gsi/astra gte etc) take the whole front brakes off (calipers, caliper carriage, discs and pads) this way you dont pay more for exactly the same brakes that are on the gte's/gsis/ etc

I've got the astra 16v calipers and discs on mine and they're utter shit. But I suppose yours will stop much better than mine cause of the smaller engine.

Sounds like you have something dodgy going on with the brakes or the braking system, they should be very good.

mine fade under pressure but that might just be crap pads
but other than that stop well.

Big Eck, you should really find that the 2L 16V brakes are far superior to the GSi brakes, if you dont think they are performing better then you should check it out and find what the problem is, could be your brake hoses or the pads/disks.

yeah cos after all those brakes were designed to stop the larger astra, that comes with the engine u have, so they should b pretty good on a corsa

ive got a set of EBC blind drilled and grooved disks for sale complete with green stuff pads, originally my couisins as he wanted a set after i got mine but has scrapped his car, they are miles better than the norm brakes you just need a set of GTE or similar calipers.

I've had the brakes blead twice and the pads are in good condition but they are still shit. Astra 16v brakes are the exact same size as the Corsa GSI ones but only slightly thicker. I think i'll have the hoses braided and just go for the V6 ones.

V6 calipers and brand new disc and pads are only 200 of MIG
where astra GTE/GSI will cost u a good 100+, worth spending the extra pennys if u ask me

wrong, the pads are bigger, the piston is bigger and also you mentioned the disk is thicker.
