the mk 4 is a million times better before or after modding the suspension. Vauxhall always got knocked for how bad the handling was on the mk 3 so they got Lotus in to develop the suspension on the Mk4.
IF you drop the mk4 60mm and put a strut brace on it it grips amazingly well!!!

what the fastest mk4 that is insurance friendly? say around grp 12-14 ish

i put a GMAX kit on my mk3 & put alloys on it handled much better they jus need some tweaking but the 4 is much better standard.

1.8 16v Sports group 7 are going for around £5-6k 2.0 16v SRI group 13 are going for £7-8K Turbos there are only the SRI turbos as hatchs group 14 limited to 500 models going for about £10-12
