im not thinking of upgrading my brakes but just wanted to understand a bit more.
I know the guys who've dropped in red tops put on vectra/astra pads, discs and calipers ,but i would have thought you'd have needed to increase the actual force applied to the discs??

i know you can uses braided lines etc ,but is there anyway you can increase the force, maybe you use the servo system from the donor car?
just on the quest for knowledge

cheers

Astra/vectra clipers are bigger and use more fluid to move the piston creating the bigger force.
Also changing to 288mm gives a greater force as it increases the distance from the pivot .
V6 breaks may feel spongy but ive drove them without servo assistance (had a vacuum leak- brake servo hose came off!) and would say it wasn't worth the cost of upgrading the master cylinder as they stil stopped ya well enough!

Not sure what its like on corsa's but the lower spec nova's have a smaller servo than the top models. Servo's from other vaux's have been fitted.

The bite isn't really improved with these conversions, its the stopping from speed and the lack of brake fade which makes them useful.

I dont think I've had my V6 brakes fade, maybe a tad at castle combe, but not a lot.

Just fitted V-tuning V6 brake kit yesterday to my corsa. I have heard a lot about the spongey feel to the pedal, but I didn't feel it was too bad, there was slightly more travel than before but it still felt OK. It is too soon to say what the stopping power was like as I am still bedding in. I think a lot depends on how you drive. I want good initial stopping power rather then no fade as I rarely hammer my brakes and have never had a problem with fade even with std brakes. I just felt they didn't slow me down fast enough I you do hammer the brakes a bit more then fade is more of an issue.

For a corsa with a 2.0 16v..........ATE Callipers from a Callibra, Cav or Astra are MORE THAN sufficient.

V6 are for show, and although great for stoppin a very heavy vectra from 150mph, there too much for a little corsa, and i've heard too many stories bout locking up, spongy pedal, having to upgrade the master cylinder etc....

A nice set of ATE calipers with a brand new set of discs and pads (perfomance ones or not) will do you fine.
