isn't 20-50 for diesels?
10-40 is best for modern injection petrol cars

yeah 10w40 should be about right, although i've used that magnetic GTX crap 10w40 and it's really thin compared to the Vauxhall 10w40 oil.
i'm swapping it over cause my engine is more tappity than it used to be

do you, i'm just having a bad time with it i suppose. my engine is just well noisy with it, compared to how it used to be.
the engines done a fair few miles (86K) so probably doesn't appreciate how thin the oil is!

It's gr8 4 cooking chips in and using in old cavvy taxis! Too thick use 15/40 (8v) or 10/40 (16v) I use 5/40 but my car hasnt done as many miles (yet - 58k on a W-reg! )

i use vauxhall 10/40 semi-synethic on my gsi, its what its designed for, and for just over £10 for 5 litres, id take this over magnatex, which is stupidly over priced, tho those adverts and colourful stickers on them are convincing

yes stick with the original GM oil
if your car has high miles or seems to be loosing oil then look at using a higher viscosity say 15w/40

im quite lucky with mine at the mo cause it hasn't lost any oil since i've had the car. i check it a couple times a week.
i bought some GM stuff for my nex change, really good value stuff IMO. i've got the 10w/40 one.
