When i take my car to 6000rpm, on gear change when i take my foot briefly off the throttle, a loud squeal can be heard. Its always done this. Any ideas?

sometimes my tires squeal,when i cane it and put it into second just as i put the power down again (if you know what i mean?) sort of like a mini wheel spin only not

i had a similar problem cybermonkey mine turned out to be bottom end bearings had gone
had new bearings/big ends and a lightened gsi/crank fitted at same time
ohhh wow not cheap to fix lol 500 quid

its approaching 40k miles so the timing belt needs changing for a newer item. The drivebelt runs the alternator right? Is it serious enough to warrant immediate attention?

id say if its doing somthing it shudnt then it needs attention
some ppl say that u can get away with it etc
but in the u still gotta fix it so might as well do it now before it gets worse

i've got the same problem but it happoens when i start her up now aswell the bracket for the alternator that goes behind the timing belt on my 1.4 SRi has a bush that is umm no longer there which causes the alternator to rock slackening the fan belt in the process
