I had a few mates who worked for Ford around the time when the Ford Racing Puma was in production. Very nice interior (blue alacantara), nice wide arches, top notch handling.......but as for performance......
....as for the test drives i went out in, we hammered the life out of it till the gearbox went, and it was....well...pants. Felt sluggish etc for the kinda car it makes out to be.
Matt
(altho i'd prob still have 1)

Needs a V6 or turbo engine really to keep its racing image

A guy I know got a run in the rally version of the Puma - hes been in all sorts of fancy cars, but said the Puma felt like the fastest accelerating car he'd ever been in!
But thats the Works rally version, not the road going racing Puma. Looks nice though.

gay car, not enough power but very good handling. on small twisty circuts lack of power not a big issue.

I hate pumas as standard. Only 500 made in the limited edition wide arch. As said, handlling is supposed to be great, but let down by a poor performing engine.
However, Vtec lumps fit in, and they respond great to turbos as well
PS, that puma up above, Spot on, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
I love that colour!!!

My mate runs the service dept of the local ford dealership. He reckons they are not all that, far to underpowered. But, I saw that purple puma above, southbound on the M1 sunday night. It looks absolutely mustard. I think it is a turbo conversion as well.
