im wanting to drill that airbox on my corsa B, sounds like ill be getting basically an induction kit for free, is it hard to do, and is it like "dangerous" if i do it worng and ill need it all replaced if i mess up.
also whats the whole point of doing it?

ok they cost about £45 for a new corsa c airbox so i wouldnt worry. just drill holes about 1" on the side nearest the bodywork and drill about 10 - 15 holes

underneath the filter right?..problem is i cant take the air box off lol..too many hoses and wires

yea, and how do i stop the hot air feed from the manifold?
no more cracks the huge hole?

how i see it is that when airbox is drilled, when you stop you get hot air from exhaust.otherwise, when you are moving, air goes around the enginebay and its not that hot...
dont have any own experiences,exept the green twister, its work like a clock, when you have the ducting from outside.
tested on the rollingroad and works in practice.

but my manifold has a pipe ducting the haet off the manifold to the airbox, how can i stop this from pumping out heat into the bay? is it just a cover that i can take off or doesn it have to be there?

it helps in cold wheather starting. it sucks hot air from manifold.
just taking out the pipe. personally i would take it out but, it might make some difference in cold, dont know sure.
anybody else?

might be some sensor or then its the thing wich "decides" wheter to suck hot air too,cos there is this thing too.
im really out of words, and dont know sure, someone else?

what engine have you got? some corsa engines don't have the wiring and pipiing sucking into the airbox ( mine doesn't (1.4 16v)
all you gotta do is take the old box out and drill holes in the lower half, smaller make a more rasping noise and larger make a deeper grunty noise.
you can do loads small ones in the lower half, or about 15 bigger ones.
don't make them n e bigger than a 2p coin though other wise it has negative effects on the ppressure differences and doesn't suck air into the box.
Also it is prbably worth while drillling holes on the lower half near the wing and up the side near the wing. Basiclally you want to avoid as much engine heat getting in the box as possible.
That's a few guidlines. You won't fuck it up , it's real easy to do.....

are the wires and ducting an integral part of it, or can they just be removed?
i think i read somewhere about putting a screw or something oin the red wire

mate just leave the piping on form the exhaust manifold and direct it away from the airbox and put cable ties on it to hold it i position. i have a pvd bfo cone on and thats what i did. As for the sensor place it somewhere in the engine bay where it will not get dirty and cover it up with something. thats what i did. I have a 1.2 8v. As juha said the ducting from the exhaust is for old start. It just takes ur engine a little longer to warm up without it.
