Im really inrested in building my own car, and recently have been looking into buying a kit and having a go, I know its a huge project, and i really wanna have a stab at building a motor,

Im looking at somthing like a Tiger Super Six, somthing small and has quite a small build time, (110 hours even for a novice)

Does anyone know of any sites that can help me, and has anyone ever tried a kit before?

Im really serious about it, and want the challange

Well the tiger kit is 3750,

thats everything you need except your engine,

I would want a 1800cc 16v Zetec engine in it,

They have new 2000cc Zetec engines in crates from ford still for £1000

Whats the insurance like on these also?

I heard that kit cars insurance is dirt cheap?

well i would have to save a bit more yet,

Im at a stage now where im wondering is it really worth spending more money on my present car,

it looks good, i love it, but i want a kit to spend time on in the evenings, Would be so smart to build a car then drive it,

Can have everything u want, the way u want from the start,

love kit cars, had a jago jeep, then a dutton phaeton with a burton tuned 1660 ford crossflow engine, was a hill climb car but then reg for road use, I managed to park it about 3' up a tree LOL

also did work on the nova kit car, was based on the beetle floorpan, and the whole roof screen et al, lifted to let you in and out of the car, did work on the fibreglass body and the company I was working with put in the recess that goes down the side of the body, good fun cars but so horrible to drive

there are loads of kit cars out there, why not look at something like a lambo replica, or ferrari replica kit car? Not the ones based on the MR2, as not really proper replicas!

I sell both of the above, plus my favourite the Hummer H1 replica...mmmmm! That is a proper beast!

you got to be round the 25 age for cheap insurance on a kit car. I've tried being insured on my dads caterham when I was 21 and they wanted an extra £2K. i even had 4 years NCB.

guy at my work has one of the GT40 replica's, it was built from brand new components in 1984 and registered as a B reg car, he bought the 5L( I think ford engine) in from america, since then its done like 5k miles and is currently sat in his garage with a sheet over it and a go-kart sat on the roof, he also has a lotus' and other lovely cars, refuses to sell anything or drive any of them, just likes to own them!!!

I really hate some people!!!!!! GRRRRRRRR
