How safe is ebay? what happens when you dont receive your goods but money gets taken? Do you claim off ebay?
And when you sell something how much does ebay take is it like a certain %?
Would you recommend using it?

only bid on items who's seller has a high rating (%rating). then u'll be fine. check the sellers feedback comments.
I've bought about 50items, and haven't had a problem.

i thought ebay took full responsability if goods arnt sent and money is taken. we were on about this yesterday and i heard that they take about 10% of what item is sold for? may be wrong though.

No they charge to list items and they will also compensate people up to just over 100 quid if you loose money and file the complaint and they look in to it.
Sales are strictly consumer to consumer, ie. no support from eBay unless you inform them of malpractise.

I did a Buy It Now on a pair of Dell 20" TFT monitors, total cost nearly 700 quid. The monitors didn't actually exist and everyone who posted money lost it. I had opted to collect so aside from a wasted journey to his house I wasn't out of pocket. Other people lost thousands in other auctions of his set up at the same time though.
My first eBay purchase was a camera lens which I bank transferred the cash and waited. That could have gone horribly wrong when I look back at that now.
My rule of thumb is use eBay to set up the deal then go collect. Trust no one!

But how do you get good feedback if everyone only uses people with good feedback

You have to be a good seller and a good buyer, if you put things up forsale and you deliver it quick when the auction ends, you get good feedback, if you pay quick when buying, you get good feedback, unlike us we got warnings and now we are suspended!!! oops
