Right, I'm just thinking about changing my stereo system in the near future, but REALLY need some help regarding amps etc before I decide on my new setup.....
1) If I've got two Diamond Audio M6 12D4 subs
http://www.diamondaudio.com/MobileAudio/index.cfm?page=Subwoofers
- will the D5 1200.1 amp be able to power BOTH subs or do I need a different amp?
The Diamond Audio amps can be found on:
http://www.diamondaudio.com/MobileAudio/index.cfm?page=Amplifiers
2) Also which amp is best for powering the components (the model no's are M661 and M641)??
http://www.diamondaudio.com/MobileAudio/index.cfm?page=Speakers
I was looking at the D5 600.4 but could the 4" comp's run off the headunit and just use and amp to power the 6"s?? And ifso-which one?
I'm really confused! And ANY help whatsoever would be REALLY appreciated!

the amp will run the subs but not that great, the subs are 800w rms and the amp will run 1200w max @ 1ohm thats only 600w rms (i think) thats for 1 sub! u need to find a very powerful amp for them bad boy subs

if i was u id look for at least a 800w 4 channel amp for all 4, i have 225w per speaker in my car and i neva run it past 60% of headunit power as its just too loud but it does sound clear and thats on a shitty amp, u have to rememmber if u run the subs propperly thats 1600w rms, now that a hell of alot of bass there, gotta have it in proportion

1) You will need 2 of those amps. 1200RMS @ 1ohm So will need the subs to have dual 2ohm coils. For this you will need the M6 12D2 instead of the M6 12D4. Then one amp powering each sub.
2) For the front components(M661) I'd say get a D5 300.4 and bridge the channels to power the comps.
And for the rear components a D5 300.2

Cheers Loud+Proud and Corb.....
Just one last question tho... I don't really want 4 amps! Is there anyway that both sets of comps can run off one amp at all??

i dunno, you might be able to get away with running them all off a POWERFUL 4 Chn amp.
The only thing that would happen here is, that you wouldn't get a difference between front and rear sound
But it has the potential of working

Cheers everyone for your help! I really appreciate it! I figured a way round the component/amp problem that I was having without the front and back sounding the same
So it's all looking quite good now...
