Vauxhall/Opel is readying a hot version of its Corsa at the Opel Performance Centre (OPC). The Corsa GSI, as it will be called in the UK, is powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged ECOTEC engine developing 175bhp and torque of 155lb ft. Its 0-60 mph time is estimated to be around seven seconds, and top speed around 140mph.

The Corsa OPC concept car shown last year sat on 17-inch alloy wheels and suspension lowered by 25mm; it also had heavily sculpted bodywork. The production version is expected to be a little less extreme, though it still looks like the result of a Max Power reader's makeover.

Please note Richard that this engine is brand new and within EU regulations for emissions, I would like to point out to you that the new 1.6 16v engine from Peugeot produces 110bhp and is capable of a disapointing 0-60 of 10 seconds, this engine is also found in the new C2 VTR which is equally disapointing.

Fit that to your 106 and I believe you will be going much slower.

Face it, the 106 GTi is dead and production stops at the end of this year, this new Corsa is gonna rape it from start to finnish.

Regards.

Really depends on how much they are going to sell it for.

206 Gti 180 and CTR very good value for money.
