OK, my PS2 plays UK and Chinese DVD's, is this normal???

Its a PAL version. Other than chipping it what other areas will it play???

I noticed mine done this when a mate brought some DVD's back from Hong Kong. He was told later that alot of the DVDs on sale in Hong Kong are actually region 0 which will play on any DVD player.

will play region 0 and 2 unless you get it chipped and region x disk

you dont need to get it chipped for it to play other region dvds. just get yourself a region x disk.

and copied dvds (dvd-r) work fine on them too without any modifications or chips

on a ps2 they play region 0 and 2 i think,
using dvd region x they play all dvds

on dvd players multi region will play any dvd worldwide

mine plays any copyed dvds just plays them in black and white tho ...

Hong Kong + Region 0 = pirate copy most of the time.

However, sometimes it's the only way to get anime with english (fansub) subtitles.

cost around £50 depending on what version ps2 mainboard you have

they can fuck up but i know loads of people that have had no problems. plus the games are dirt cheap then so its worth the risk as the consoles are pretty cheap nowadays
