I just e.mailed them this
Dear Bp
with reference to the cleaning and emissions control properties of Bp Ultimate petrol being better than normal Bp UL. how does it compare to other brands such as optimax, texico SUL, and supermarket SUL. Why should people stop using optimax with it's higher RON rating and switch to Bp

100 in greece and 98 in aussie. I asked them this before and they said there was not a market and if they were to bring it here then it would cost alot more.

BP Ultimate is rated 98RON here in Aust and for some reason is more prefered over Optimax (with the car modding scene). Mate of mine works in a BP servo n reckons Shell supplies Ultimate which is really just Optimax, less all the cleansers n stuff.

Dear Mr Thompson,
The cleaning properties of BP Ultimate are exceptional. In tests we saw that BP Ultimate prevented the formation of 97% of intake valve deposits, and in typical vehicles, in which deposits were already in place, BP Ultimate removed approximately 75% of these deposits.
It’s not all about octane rating. Many cars do not get any advantage at all from increasing the octane number. We have tested high performance cars that are sensitive to octane and we saw no benefit for 98 versus BP Ultimate petrol in these vehicles and in some cases BP Ultimate Unleaded provided more performance along with less pollution.
Thank you, if you have any further queries please don't hesitate to call the BP Careline on 0800 402 402.
Yours sincerely,
Freddie Boniface
