Just going through some results from a court this morning and there is a 18 year old lad who was caught for:

No insurance
No licence
No MOT
Drink driving

And how much was he fined, a measly £75!!!

When asked in court why he decided to drive without all these things, his response was “why should I bother paying over £1000 insurance, and money learning to drive when I can risk driving without it, because when I get caught I only have to pay £75”

£75.
I got fined over £1000 with 6 points and a 6 month ban for driving with no Insurance.

Surely all that is worse than my offence. ( even though i was in the wrong)

They go by your Means in courts

So if you were working etc, the you get a bigger than fine than if you are not working, which i also think is a disgrace

this is strange I am sure it is mandatory for getting points and a fine for not having insurance. also drink driving has a mandatory ban

Yeah i hear what your saying mate, but even that will do no good.

Until you actually work in a place like this, you dont actually realise what a joke criminals are making of the system in place in our country. The amount of people who dont pay/are let off fines is unbelievable. On average its cost us 50% more to recover the fine than the defendent is actuallly paying, sticking them in Prison justs adds to this cost, make no wonder taxes are so high

Oh, and most people that come into court would rather go into Prison anyway than pay a fine
