The bottom part should be metal - Just cut it in half, find another bit of metal at 15mm & weld back together.
The top part could be plastic or metal - if it's plastic, get yourself a metal one, if it's metal do the same as above.
When i done mine i went to the local breakers and got a linkage from a 4 speed nova for the bits to cut up.
