I was wondering what you people used for this?

I got my car a second hand set of alloys but the brake dust isn't shifting too well.

I've used Meguiars Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner, which is mean't to be a foam but it's just spraying out like water The bottle is nearly empty and it's hardly removed anything but surface dust that could have been removed with warm water and sponge

If its not budging with a good soak of Hot Wheels and a little elbow grease then it probably won't go. Looking at those pics, the brake dust looks as if its bedding into the alloy or got into the top coat. Might be just as well refurbing them mate.

try this it worked for my wheels put washing up liquid in a spray bottle with a touch of water so that its not thick and sprays easy

spray the wheels being genaruse then leave it to start to dry and then o it again 3-4 times then rins off

there is meant to be something in washing up liquad that gets under dirt and dust ext that lifts it and its the cheapes option like i said it worked for mine

The ironx will get rid of that and then after there will be tar, it's not just a brakedust build up.
If there are still a few bits that remain after the ironx and tar remover then an agressive claybar and some elbow grease should get rid of it.

You might need more than one hit of Ironx as well...

we use autosmart truckwash stuff at work. If that dont remove it we've got an acid wheel cleaner stuff but you need to jetwash it off soon as you've scrubbed it into the wheel

From memory i think G101 does work. Its been awhile since we used G101 on any sort of wheel. Only use G101 at my work to clean the cupboards, floors and surfices in the caravans and motorhomes we sell

So I took the advice from most of the people in the topic and went and got some Wonder wheels.

Megiuers hot rims is a product that I originally got, the internets told me to.
As you can it didn't do very well, that's a whole 710ml bottle which costs almost £10.

Next up is Washing up liquid as suggested by Liam-Wilko and to be fair it wasn't much worse off then the Megiuers.

And finally Wonder Wheels, I didn't expect to shift any of the dust on this wheels, it had started to eat in to the alloy and it was very hard in terms of material, quite surprising.
Wonder Wheels was around the same price as Megiuers for 1000ml/1litre and I've done 2 wheels that are around 90% dust free and only used about 1/4 of the bottle, top stuff.

Thanks for the recommendations.
