Seen as a few we're interested in last job thought I'd put some up of today's, easy job though today.

As I start, one poorly Peugeot 207



Drill spot welds


Cut line


All off



Panel tried on



And with door on to check gaps


On dinner now, just need to seal the inner quarter and start welding it on.

i always wonder, when cutting the old panel on the c pillar/sill how do you get the cut spot on?

Did you have to cut more off the old panel as the cut line here...

no he's doing it right, cut the old panel off (making sure you leave enough room with the new panel going on) clamp the new one in place then cut through both the new and old metal so you have an uniform weld line and you know the weld gap is in the perfect place, hes cut in the overlap higher up as its a smaller surface area and thers less room for distorting the metal when you weld it up (plus less filler to rub down after your finished)

looking tidy job so far, much prefer new shap mini quarters, they were so easy back in the day nearly all of it spot welded on and hardly any mig welding to do

iv just remembered Andy was an apprentice back in 07' when i started my track car, looks like hes progressed well in 5 years then

What you doing now then?

I work at a different place now so it's not bonus, I don't even look at times tbh, doesn't make a difference, like with this my manager said peugeots yours, door and 1/4. Parts are over there. That's it I crack on ill see if I can find a sheet tommorow and see how much is on it.

Lol fair enough

Moved into estimating jobs about 3/4 years ago, work at a Porsche and Bentley bodyshop pricing jobs up these days instead of being on the shop floor

We would of probably miracle pulled the quater and repalced the door, i think its silly the amount of stuff we repair instead of replace these days, no money in the jobs.

SOme insurance companies are set price repairs so its cut costs everywhere.

Steve times at our for panel is blooody good, paint is crap though, seem to of switched ways now. panel used to be shit but paint good. have to knock out alot of jobs on bonus to make some decent money these days.

Fuck repairing it, all inner was damaged too.

As Graeme said, grind welds down and fill over as so
