My S3 is making a hissing noise behind the dash but goes when I press the brake as explained here by somebody else

http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=328840

I have a 3 months platinum warranty just waiting to do 1000 miles in car and get the warranty docs.

Anybody used them for a claim or am I doomed?

No idea where I'm looking and what's needed though.

Leaking hose looks the obvious one? Will come see you tomorrow as soon as BMW ring me regarding matrix! Hopefully early morning

Sweet! If you open the bonnet and look where the brake reservoir is there's a pipe there that goes into a big black round thing (servo) follow that pipe that comes out of there and listen for hissing noise.

Did you buy the car from a dealer/trader? Speak to them before getting the warranty provider involved - it may prove less hassle in the end.

It will be the brake servo mate. Ignore 3i Gaz, he is talking bollocks, i'd pay to see him try and change a servo on one of them in 15 mins

I work at Audi/VW garage.

PS brake servo should be covered under your warranty as its not a wear and tear item.

Also it doesnt have to go back to the garage you bought it from, any garage can do the work and you pay them and claim back from warranty company.

I probably do about 5-10 warranty claims a week like this.

U2U me if you need any help!

I think Gaz means that it could be a hose that is split and requires a new one hence 15min job.

Cheers for advice though! Will sort out my warranty stuff as soon as documents arrive

If it was a split servo hose it would do the noise all the time as the vacuum hose goes into the servo from the inlet manifold so has permanent vacuum

Did I say servo? No. I said servo pipe as pictured in the link. Shame Audi don't supply a pair of glasses.
