To set the scene, in April last year my brother and I went to watch the wrestling at the O2 for a bit of a laugh; we hadn't seen it for around 13 years. It was actually really entertaining, so we said that we would go to Wrestlemania one day when it was near ie. on the East coast of the States. Fast forward 1 year and we head out to New York for a bit of a sports trip.

We'd both been to New York before so planned to do a bit of sightseeing in and around the sports events. We flew out in the evening of Wednesday 3rd April 2013.

Thursday 4th April

View from the Statten Island ferry...

High Line Park built on an old train track above the city...

Pier 17...

Brooklyn Bridge...

Grand Central Station...

Central Park...

Yankee Stadium - New York Yankees vs Boston Red Sox

Times Square...

Friday 5th April

A short 2 hour Greyhound bus ride got us to Philadelphia to run up the Rocky Steps...

And the statue...

Back over to Manhattan to watch the New York Knicks vs Milwaukee Bucks at Madison Square Gardens...

Saturday 6th April

A trip out to Flushing Meadows to watch the New York Mets vs Florida Marlins at Citi Field..

Shopping in the early evening and a night out followed.

Sunday 7th April

The whole reason we were over here, Wrestlemaina 29 at the Metlife stadium, New Jersey...

Watched by 80,686 people!

The Undertaker on his way to the ring...

HHH vs Brock Lesnar...

The Rock vs John Cena...

All in all it was a really entertaining trip. I'd recommend it to anyone to go over and go to a few events.

The Knicks were great, The roof nearly came off with the noise when Carmello Anthony hit a 3 pointer to take him to 40+ points 3 games in a row. Michael J Fox was at the game and he got a standing ovation from the crowd when he came on the big screen.

Replace wwe with nfl and that'd be a perfect trip.

Nath - We would have done if the season hadn't finished.

LiVe LeE - MSG is a great venue. Seeing the Rangers would be brilliant!

Yeah I can't wait; tickets are between $80 and $200 but looking at the scale of the place in your photos rather than the seating plan, it looks like its worth payin the upper end to get closer to the rink

Can't believe WWE draws such huge crowds.

Surprised John Cena and The Rock are stil doing it, thought they had given it up for acting.

Sure you won't be disappointed. It's far more exciting than NBA

I regularly go to watch Nottingham Panthers play and the atmosphere there is pretty good but I guess the American and Canadian leagues are something else and MSG would be phenomenal

I've not seen exactly where the Rangers play, I'm assuming they don't set up the rink over the basketball court?! I could be wrong. Either way the view was great from where we were, very similar to the footy if you ever go.

If you're really into a certain sport then I can see the appeal in sitting nearer to the action. IIRC the Knicks tickets started around $30 and went up to about $2500

Awesome. Would love to do similar, including the WM.

It's a bit shit now but the spectacle and hype surrounding it is enough to make me want to be a part of one.
