Got this in an email today....

>I went to a party,
>And remembered what you said.
>You told me not to drink, Mom
>So I had a sprite instead.
>I felt proud of myself,
>The way you said I would,
>That I didn't drink and drive,
>Though some friends said I should.
>I made a healthy choice,
>And your advice to me was right,
>The party finally ended,
>And the kids drove out of sight.
>I got into my car,
>Sure to get home in one piece,
>I never knew what was coming, Mom
>Something I expected least.
>Now I'm lying on the pavement,
>And I hear the policeman say,
>The kid that caused this wreck was drunk,
>Mom, his voice seems far away.
>My own blood's all around me,
>As I try hard not to cry.
>I can hear the paramedic say,
>This girl is going to die.
>I'm sure the guy had no idea,
>While he was flying high,
>Because he chose to drink and drive,
>Now I would have to die.
>So why do people do it, Mom
>Knowing that it ruins lives?
>And now the pain is cutting me,
>Like a hundred stabbing knives.
>Tell sister not to be afraid, Mom
>Tell daddy to be brave,
>And when I go to heaven,
>Put "Daddy's Girl" on my grave.
>Someone should have taught him,
>That it's wrong to drink and drive.
>Maybe if his parents had,
>I'd still be alive.
>My breath is getting shorter, Mom
>I'm getting really scared.
>These are my final moments,
>And I'm so unprepared.
>I wish that you could hold me Mom,
>As I lie here and die.
>I wish that I could say, "I love you, Mom!"
>So I love you and good-bye.

I agree with Kerry about framing it above bars.

Your lips speak soft sweetness
Your touch a cool caress
I am lost in your magic
My heart beats within your chest

I think of you each morning
And dream of you each night
I think of your arms being around me
And cannot express my delight

Never have I fallen
But I am quickly on my way
You hold a heart in your hands
That has never before been given away

i thought of sumin earlier....when u get asked for i.d. at pubs n clubs bcoz they doubt ur age....and ppl show a drivers liscence as a form of i.d. and theyve driven there i reckon they should be made to stand out somehow so its clear to see if theyre drinking or not or the bar staff not to serve....probably many a way of gettin rnd this but jus an idea

thats good, encourages a group of ppl to get one of their m8s to drive!

yea iv read that poem before, iv also read a similar one along the same lines, and that touched me even more than this one did!

it was about drink drivin and this girl went out with her m8s and they had an accident and the poem was written as if the girl was talkin, and she was in hospital, sayin the stuff like in the poem above, but the thing was the other car they hit was her parents, so they all died!

I strongly disagree with drink driving and that poem brings the point home i hope those people that do it are feeling guilty right now, chances are they are not but they would be if something like described in the poem happened to them. I know myself i would not be able to live with causing someones death through my stupidity .
