Just got back from a wee break..Done about 450 miles this week.
The engine management light has started to come on...BUT....
Will come on in intermittent spurts..
On for 5 mins of for a few etc and this is how it goes.
Car is running fine, no adverse effects of the light..
I know I will have to take it to get looked at but just wanting any opinions you guys (or girls) have..

Mine started doing this too  Comes on for 5mins when I forst start the car, then goes off and is fine for the rest of the journey. Seems to have no effect on the car tho, dunno what it is.

You read the fault codes of the ECU using a paperclip

better using a fused link in case you bridge the wrong pins

Mine used to do this, best way is to bite the bullit and get Vauxhall to stick it on the computer.
Cost around 40 quid.
Turned out to be the Idle control valve and EGR on mine! 700 quid to fix
Lets just say i drove it away!!

Yeah think I will get it into vaux....
Must be something trivial ???????????? as car is still running sweet...
Probably 500 quid worth at vaux......

Hey Rhino, new username eh.
Last time my engine management light came on a local garage plugged it in and wanted £300+ just for the part to fix it... Cost me £50 for the part and did it myself.
I'm thinking it might be idle control valve on mine, sittin at idle the rev's bounce just a little bit (like a tiny bit but can hear it with exhaust)
Only thing I can think of coz eveything else seems fine

My ICV is well gummed up, the revs are all over the place but the EML dosnt come on in mine.

mine used 2 cum on wenu slowed down flikkered n that it turned out 2 be the idol control valve n it cost 100 quid 2 put it on the computer/read the ecu and supll;y and fit a new 1 through a private mechanic wen i went 2 vaux 2 collect the part they sed itsa commin thing 2 go on corsas so they ad loads in stock

that exact same thing happened to me and when i did paperclip test i got the code for egr valve
try removing it and cleanin it up as vx recommend this every 20000 miles 
dont go to vx as they will tell u ya need a new one most likely and they are around the £200 mark iirc

they have got the code its for egr just need to know where it is on a corsa as i only know on a vectra

Vauxhall fault code reading.
Basicly you bridge 2 wires and the ECU light flashes a code as to the problem.
There are 2 type of plugs, a 16 pin OBD2 which is meant to be on all cars after 1998 and a 10 pin ALDL plug which is GM specific and on most vauxhauls up to 1997.
There are also two types of fault codes, 4digit OBD2 codes for all cars after 98 with OBD2 sockets and 2 digit ALDL codes which should be given out by ALDL plug vauxhauls.
This isnt always the case though so ul have to work out which plug and codes ur given urself.
OBD2 96-99 (not meant to work after 99 soz)
To read the codes on cars with 16 pin OBD2 diagnostic plugs you bridge pins numbered 5 and 6 (see pics) with a bit of wire (paperclip, buttie bag tag).
Then turn your ignition on to position 2 where all the electrics such as eleccy windows and radio work, dont start the car though.
The ECU light should flash a sequence.
Each code gets repeated three times.
Those with 16 pin OBD2 plugs should give out 4 digit codes (it may give the old ALDL codes though on pre-97 cars).
Example, 10 flashes, 4 flashes, 10 flashes, 10 flashes, long pause, 10 flashes, 4 flashes, 10 flashes, 10 flashes, long pause, 10 flashes, 4 flashes, 10 flashes, 10 flashes, even longer pause would be code 0400 (10 flashes = 0) which is the code for EGR valve.

ALDL plugs need to have pins A and B bridged as shown in the pics

Hopefully this helps.
Soz if you've got a latter than 99 car or the fault light only flashed on/off and didnt stay on long enough to store the code.
