Rear springs take 15 mins max.
Rear shocks, bout 15 mins a side.
Fronts take a little while, just be careful if ur using spring compressors........i've heard of some very nasty accidents.
I'd set aside half a day to do the whole lot, in case u find seized bolts etc

You'll need a trolley jack and axle stands of course. It's useful to have 2 trolley jacks for doing the rear, coz you have to lower a beam to get the springs out, and its easy if you have a trolley jack on each end. Im sure someone will explain properly wot i'm on about.

yeah - 2 days will be decent. u can double check everything then. u sound like u know bout the old compressor idea, so u shud b ok.
if in doubt, stop, and undo both compressors slowly, with the top cap facing away from u into summat soft like mud etc.

think you'll find Halfords arent actually shit, but can realistically only stock so much. They could not possibly keep everything available on the market in stock, imagine the size the store would need to be Actually, they should be able to order your required tools in specially.

the nut on the top of the front strut - crack this loose before you jack the car up. It easier to loosen with the weight of the car compressing the spring and holding everything in place.

just thought u'd like to know I just fitted sum front shocks and springs today and my original suspension had an 18mm top nut, then the new shocks had a 19mm??? strange but true. Believe me 18mm offset spanners are harder to find. And halfords don't sell em at least the one near me don't.
If u come across seized bolts I found they can be a proper bitch to undo, however spray sum wd40 on em leave for a lil while then stick and spanner on them and wack em wiv a metal mallet, give a bit of shock treatment to loosen them up. With any metal bolts as soon as they move the tinyest amount ur ok. its just gettin them to move at all which can be a pain. Be very careful not to burr over the edges of the bolts cos u'll find it near impossible to get the nut off.
Ermm wot else can I say, I haven't attempted the rears yet but my fronts took me about 3-4 hours not too bad for the first time, and no knocks or bangs and everything looks low.
oh and make sure the new springs are sat correctly in the shocks otherwise god knows what cud happen??? there are little grooves in the shocks. Btw I fitted normal shocks not coilovers.
Even tho I've just done the front and still on crappy standard rims the handlin has already improved massively!!! Can't wait to lower the rear and get wider wheels.
