not that impressive to sixty mate as standard- very long geared- there is a really impressive power band when you go over 4000 revs- like a mini turbo boost

The ones i have drive though have felt awesome round corners, and they also seem to be extremely tuneable

My mates had a proven 8.3 to sixty without mods, but the list figures are low 9-s

I reckon 0-100 would be more impressive against other cars in their class

Certainly not the john cooper works kit- serious rip off

I live just roung the corner from AMD who have started to specialise in engine work on the new cooper so im going to pay them a vist

Already got magnex cat back to go on and im having john cooper induction kit fitted from the factory

To be honest im not decided whether im going to leave it like that for a year and then upgrade to a cooper s, or to spend the extra on the cooper......resale prices are so good on one year old minis with high specs that it would be tempting to upgrade in a years time-

After driving 1l and 1.2l cars for the last 4 years im sure its going to feel pretty fast to me as standard

End of December - not far off now. Mine has just passed the 1250mile mark so I am opening it up a lot more. The kick at 4k is very impressive and the handling never ceases to amaze although I had a bit of a scare in the wet today.

I reckon your better off keeping it standard and upgrading to an S when you get the chance. You don't want to invalidate the warrenty and the TLC by adding bits to it. If you do you will pay through the roof for BMW to sort it.

I never saw those seats in the brochure. They are cool! How much were they? I got the half leather sports seats in mine and they're awesome, so comfy and supportive.

Also, best 0-60 I have seen officially timed is 8.5 by Autocar which feels about right. But then again, the Cooper isn't about 0-60.

yeah the seats are in the john cooper works catalogue at the dealership- they still include the side impact airbags which no after market seat does- they are around the 1k mark fitted- but you do get a discount on the chilli pack if you get them....which is nice

8.5 is still unusual for a factory cooper most seem to be low 9's high 8's
