Its me again with my many questions as i'm bored,

Lookin to get a 1.6 sport in jan, wanted to know what power i can get from it,

Been lookin at lexmaul inlets also wondered about chips etc,

So whats best exhaust to get,
Should i get a lexmaul inlet thingy,
Cams,
Chip,
etc

What power should i expect with all that done, and what else is there?

Cheers,
Steve

125.

For power beyond 145bhp you'll need to ditch all of the inlet manifold system (the Lexmaul ram induction is the top section only) and raise the rev limit another 1k or so.

Donna had some nice power out of her GSi, but hers had a bit more done - there's a thread by Daimo selling all the parts so if you're quick you can have D5's old kit.

Best thing to do is sell the engine and get a C20XE from the beginning unless you're sold on a 1.6 in which case throttle bodies (and an empty wallet!).

everything is slow compared to his 'SUPER FAST PUG'

I like my 1.6 m8...power wise ok...

my rr at 118bhp and thast just with ind kit/heatshield full s/s zorst and decat..well maintaned and regulary serviced.. might be reading a bit high though...

might start on engine next year...

1.6 is ok powerwise... its not immense in standard form, but its not bad... can get some respectable power with mods like Patrick did (dont flame me) ... but 170bhp aint bad at all.

If Honda can design a 1.6 engine with 160bhp out the box, why can't Pug?

very true, still the pugs power shows up the vaux lump and the honda lump shows it up even more, and that honda lump may produce 160bhp but the pugs still faster

Because the car is generally heavier than the peugeot and to compete with it needs to have those extra ponies in its class.... the corsa is a heavier car, so in theory more bhp would of helped it move...

The fiesta si 1.6 is in v-low insurance, the corsa is faster and in higher insurance group, the 106 is faster but even higher insurance... You get what i'm sayin... Then the civic 1.6 is bla bla bla bla bla...

Cheers for the help, no point me spendin all that when i can just drop a 2.0 in there really,

Would work out betta for me, i want to make a track day nova you see, the 1.6 with about 130bhp would be ace in a stripped out nova on the track...

the 1.6 was designed with a lot more power, was then slowed down by vaux.

ditch the std inlet system and get an ecu which allows for this and you will see 145 BHP out of a 1.6 sport. cost... £1100

the honda engein is crap all round performer though Tim. it's all about peak power where as the PSA engine is a better all rounder with more torque lower down the rev range. the corsa engine can make just as much as the pug when cash is spent

when vaux made the 1.6 it was more powerful than the 2.0 so they had to slow it down by restricting the manifold or something.

Well, its a good job the C16XE was designed with 150bhp then. Far more than the Pug engine. Was de-tuned for the road.

Oh, did i mention that thats an engine thats about 15 years old in design? I dont think Pug were even making 2.0's at that time with that kind of power???

Not so I'm afraid Steve. When I had 153bhp spec on my Corsa (standard 1.6 Sport but with Mantzel inlet manifold/4-2-1 exhaust manifold/flowed head/Unichip), I used to leave my mate's 106GTI behind quite comfortably on the straights and uphill. Round the twisties it was pretty even, but then as everyone agrees, the Pugs are v good handling out of the box.
